POLVORON COOKIES

In the Philippines, Polvoron is a beloved sweet treat often shared during holidays, celebrations, and family gatherings.
These crumbly cookies are made with toasted flour, powdered milk, sugar, and butter, then pressed into fun shapes or wrapped in colorful paper. Some versions include crushed cookies, nuts, or chocolate for an extra burst of flavor.
Light, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, Polvoron is a joyful little bite of Filipino tradition.
INGREDIENTS

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup powdered whole milk

3 Tbsp malted milk powder

pinch of kosher salt

10 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
OPTIONAL MIX-INS

5 oreos, chopped

3 Tbsp sprinkles

½ cup crispy rice cereal
DIRECTIONS​

Set a large skillet on medium heat. Add flour and stir often with a small whisk or spatula to evenly distribute heat and prevent burning.

Continue to cook until fragrant and the flour has turned tan. Turn off heat and transfer flour into a heat safe bowl. Cool for 5-10 minutes.

In another bowl, combine sugar, powdered milk, malted milk powder, and salt. Add this to the slightly cooled flour mixture. Whisk to combine all the dry ingredients together.

Add in warm melted butter. Use a spatula to fold ingredients together until crumbly.

Use an oval stamper to punch out cookies.

Place recently shaped oval on a parchment lined baking sheet.Allow cookies to harden at room temperature. To hasten the hardening process, use a fridge or freezer.
